Bobby Brue’s
bag of tricks
Champions Tour player and noted
trick-shot artist Bobby Brue opened
his bag of tricks for Wisconsin
Golfer in 2000 at his home club,
Ozaukee CC in Mequon. Brue, a
Milwaukee native and 1978 inductee into the Wisconsin State
Golf Association Hall of Fame, is
one of four players who have won
the Wisconsin State Open five
times, along with fellow state
legends Manuel de la Torre, Francis
Gallett and Steve Stricker. Brue
won the 1959 Wisconsin State
Amateur after advancing to the
championship’s final match each of
the previous three seasons. He was
also the medalist at the 1959 U.S.
Amateur. Brue turned pro in 1960
and played several seasons on the
PGA Tour. He joined the Champions
Tour in 1986 and made 300 starts,
earning more than $1.2 million.
Brue, 77, still lives in Shorewood.
