3 15th, the final quartet at Strawberry
Creek includes three extremely long holes
and one tantalizingly short one.
The par- 3 15th measures 229 yards from
the back tee and features a creek mean-
dering all the way down the left side of
the hole. As with several other holes on
the course, wind speed and direction and
the teeing ground being used usually
determine strategy. The 15th green is
one of the largest on the course and is
surrounded by four bunkers.
No. 16 is a long par- 4 measuring 422
yards. This is one of those instances where
there is more room in the fairway than is
“WE HAVE GUYS AT OUR CLUB THAT, FROM 80 YARDS OFF THE GREEN,
WILL PUTT THE BALL. OR THEY’LL TAKE A 7-IRON AND BUMP-AND-
RUN IT. SO IT’S VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT YOU SEE IN THE BRITISH
OPEN, AND THE WIND IS A BIG, BIG FACTOR.” – JAMIE YOUNG
visible from the tee. A tee ball must fly
over ponds and fairway bunkers in order
to find the spacious fairway, and another
huge water hazard guards the right side of
the green.
