WIAC looks back at greatness

The Wisconsin Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference will celebrate
its centennial in 2012, and as
part of the celebration the
conference is honoring its all-time greats in several sports,
including golf.
named to each squad. The list includes
Division III national champions and all-Americans, state champions, at least one
current college coach (Meghan Sobotta
of UW-Eau Claire) and a PGA Tour winner
(Don Iverson of UW-La Crosse).

Wisconsin State Amateur Championship,
announced plans in November to merge
with LarsonAllen.
The WIAC, considered one
of the top athletic conferences
on the NCAA Division III level, was
formed in Madison in July 1913 by
eight member-schools. The confer-
ence expanded to 10 universities a few
years later but has maintained a nine-
school membership since 1964.
The all-time teams, listed below, were
selected with input from the WIAC’s
sports information directors, and the
coach selections also relied upon a
panel of media representatives. Additional WIAC all-time teams will be
announced throughout the 2011-12
academic year.
Both companies were individually among
the top 20 certified public accounting and
consulting firms in the United States, and,
when the merger takes effect, they will form
one of America’s top 10 accounting firms.
The new company, called CliftonLarsonAllen, or CLA, will operate in 25 states and
Washington, D.C. and employ more than
3,600 professionals. Milwaukee-based
Clifton Gunderson was founded in 1960.
Minneapolis-based LarsonAllen was
founded in 1953.
