hen the finest amateur
golfers in the country come
to Wisconsin Aug. 22-28 to compete
in the U.S. Amateur Championship
at Erin Hills GC, there will be a nice
buzz in golf circles.
NBC will send its A-team to handle
the broadcast for a nationwide audience. The grand pooh-bahs of the
United States Golf Association,
which also has awarded a future U.S.
Open to Erin Hills, will be on hand to
see how the course handles major
tournament golf. A small army of
Wisconsin golf fans will serve as volunteers and through the week thousands of spectators are expected to
find their way to the still-rural Town
of Erin to catch the action.
